Mother Ministry

Join us as we celebrate OUR Devoted & Loved Church Mother

Mother Mildred Patterson

Mother Patterson was born in South Boston, Virginia, the second oldest of 14 children. She is the mother of two wonderful daughters and one son. She is Mama or Mother to those who allow her to mother them, especially her beloved Pastor, the Deacons, and the Youth. She and her husband Willie moved to Smyrna, DE in 2006. They joined First Baptist Church of Cheswold under the Reverend Willie Savage. She taught 11 am Bible Study and lead 12 noon prayer for several years. She also served on several Committees and Ministries; the Pulpit Committee, Benevolent Ministry, and By-Law Committee; including serving as Vice Chair of Proverbs 31 Women Ministry. Her great passion is reading, writing and helping others. She loves to write poems, songs, commentaries pertaining to Scriptures, making booklets, cards and sharing with others. She will share/give her last, believing with her faith, God will provide, replace or either she didnt need it. In her lifetime, whichever community or wherever she has lived, she always was a member of a church and tries to attend regularly. She says she finds serenity in Church, like a security blanket. In her adult life, through good or bad, being in church gives a feeling of peace and love, whether she is alone, within a large congregation, or with a few brothers or sisters-in-christ. She loves God and knows that he loves her and will always take care of her.

Her motto stems from James 1:5-6 and reads "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God; But ask in faith, nothing wavering; for he that wavered is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed". Amen

Our beloved Church Mothers; Mother Natalie Wilkerson, Mother Agnes Hutchins, Mother Amy Williams, Mother Winfred Wright, and Mother Laura Hope, are deeply missed by our congregation. We remember the love and guidance they provided as we continue to live out their legacies. Their unwavering faith and dedication to the church will always be cherished.
